We can divide the obstacles into three groups:
1-Wendbaarheid- & wissels test: 2 barrels, 3 tbarrels, slalom, double slalom
2-Dapperheids test: bridge, livestock pen, jump, jump up, brook, water
3-Precisie- & gehoorzaamheids test: Gate, bell, jug, convert object, side pass, garrocha, slalom backwards (with object convert), figure 8 backwards (with the 2 barrels)
To ride the course you have to practice a lot, so many transitions from step to gallop, gallop to step, from canter to halt, from halt to canter. This gives your horse good acceleration and you can easily switch between the obstacles.
The trails in Working Equitation consist of obstacles that are driven either with precision or speed.
Before the race, the trail is normally walked on foot and every obstacle is explained what needs to be done. This is important, because it can differ per race and per style and speed trail.

Base: The course always consists of a start line, a finish line or finish obstacle (usually the jug), red and white markings, sometimes two, sometimes four.
The red marker is on the right (Red-Right) and the white marker is on the left (white-left) of the obstacle. With some obstacles such as the corridor with bell and the bridge, they can stand a meter before and after the obstacle. Then they indicate the place where the jury wants to see the transition. (in the speedtrail these transition markings do not apply and usually they are then placed against the obstacle, not before / after.
The rider should always ride between the red and white markings.
